Careers guidance
All pupils receive extensive careers guidance throughout their time at Ashville, not just in the Sixth Form.
Throughout the year, we hold various events to enable pupils to learn more about the wide variety of career pathways available to them and to provide them with the opportunity to develop and broaden their transferable skills. These events include:
- Careers fair
- Enrichment week
- Work experience
- Mock interviews
- Visiting speakers programme
- Application guidance for internships, apprenticeships and Higher Education
Careers fair
Our annual Careers Fair is open to all Senior School and Sixth Form pupils to attend and each year we welcome a variety of exhibitors including Higher Education institutions, other training providers and professionals from a wide selection of sectors, to provide pupils with the opportunity to explore options within their fields of interest.
Higher Education and work experience
Pupils in our Sixth Form are guided through the process of submitting applications to enter Higher Education as well as vocational opportunities and apprenticeships.
Our dedicated Sixth Form team provide additional support to pupils looking to apply to Oxford or Cambridge universities, or for some of the more competitive degree programmes such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary science and law.
Lower Sixth pupils also have the chance to take part in work experience and we work with pupils to source suitable placements that are valuable and related to potential career paths.
We also run a successful Sixth Form visiting speaker programme, involving professionals from all walks of life who present to our pupils and discuss current topical issues. This enables our pupils to gain awareness of the world they are about to enter.
