At Ashville, we believe every pupil deserves the opportunity to thrive. Our dedicated Support for Learning team works closely with teachers, parents and pupils to ensure that that every child receives the right support at the right time, enabling them to enjoy school life and achieve their full potential.

We provide personalised learning support for pupils with a wide range of additional learning needs, creating an inclusive environment where every individual feels understood, supported and empowered to succeed both academically and personally.

Our Approach

We aim to develop independent, confident and resilient learners. We take a needs-led approach, recognising that every pupil is unique. We focus on understanding strengths, identifying barriers to learning and providing appropriate support so that pupils can access the curriculum successfully.

We are committed to delivering excellent pastoral care. Staff do everything possible to ensure that children settle quickly and happily. The diversity of our pupils is celebrated, and everyone is given the chance to shine.

Individual Support That Makes a Difference

Every pupil is different, which is why we offer a flexible range of learning support tailored to individual circumstances. Depending on need, support may include:

  • Flexible timetable and bespoke pupil pathways
  • Academic mentoring and support for learning
  • Targeted intervention dependent on identified need
  • Pupil passports based on a pupil’s strengths and potential barriers in the classroom
  • Dedicated team around the child

A Caring and Inclusive Environment

Our Learning Support team provides a welcoming, nurturing space where pupils can develop socially and emotionally as well as academically.

With dedicated learning support rooms operating an open-door policy, pupils know there is always somewhere they can go for advice, encouragement or simply a quiet place to work. Many choose to spend breaktimes and lunchtimes within the department, taking part in our lunchtime clubs, socialising with friends and enjoying a supportive community.
