Activities

You won’t spend all your time in the classroom. Developing interests, friendships and a social life is also very important so we offer lots of activities in Senior School for you to pursue. Ashville students perform in rock bands, sing in the choir, play bridge, go rock climbing, and win prizes for public speaking and dramatic performances.

We encourage everyone to take part in charitable activities that help both the local and wider communities. Some of our students are involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, which helps them to help other people and also gives them a chance to go on expeditions. Travel is an important part of education in Senior School. Many students go overseas in connection with their studies and every two years, we send students to Malawi to help out in an orphanage established by an ex-Ashville teacher.

Ashville has excellent sports facilities including laying fields, tennis courts, a fully-equipped sports centre and heated indoor swimming pool. Our performance on the rugby pitch is recognised throughout the North of England and we are also recognised as a force to be reckoned with in cricket and netball.

Underpinning everything we do is our belief in you and your abilities. That belief helps us to offer a broad and balanced education that will help you to make the most of your future.

Art, Drama, Music and Sport

Performance arts are particularly strong in Ashville College. Our drama centre and fully equipped theatre has been the venue for critically acclaimed school performances.

Music is also popular in the College. The Music Department has a dedicated area with practice rooms which are used by a variety of performers,

We provide the widest possible physical education programme; we believe that every child is good at something and, with encouragement, can develop a lifelong love of exercise and sport. Consequently, alongside traditional team sports such as rugby and netball, we offer more diverse activities such as dance and gymnastics. Our well-equipped campus has playing fields, tennis courts, a modern sports complex and heated indoor pool.
