Pre-Prep
Looking After Your Child
High standards are expected and children are encouraged to achieve their maximum potential. But we never lose sight of the fact that their introduction to the school should be a positive one: it sets the stage for how they will feel about education for the rest of their lives.
We create a positive, well ordered learning environment which values all children as individuals and where all success is celebrated. Within such an environment children will make optimum progress. They will develop an appreciation, understanding and respect for the rights, needs and feelings of others. They will learn to respect and appreciate their environment and, above all, learn to manage their own behaviour.
By recognising and appreciating personal strengths and weaknesses, the children are encouraged to view learning positively, as an exciting, challenging and, above all, enjoyable activity in which everyone experiences the warm glow of success.
Every Friday a merit assembly is held when we celebrate the work that has been done during the week and two children from each class are awarded a “Merit Award” in recognition of their success. The award is tailored to the individual, for example it may be for an academic achievement, good behaviour or for realising a personal goal. These awards are an important part of the positive, encouraging environment within the Pre-Prep School.
Class sizes are set to a maximum of 16 in Reception, and this number may increase to 18 in Year 2. Parents are asked to collect their children from the classroom at the end of the school day, when the children are expected to shake hands with their class teacher before leaving the classroom. This affords parents the opportunity to speak with the teacher and find out about their child’s day.
Parents’ evenings are held twice a year and full written reports are sent out before Christmas and towards the end of the Summer Term; we do, however, operate an “open door” policy and are happy to see parents at any time of the year to update on progress.
By the time the boys and girls leave us they should be equipped with the knowledge, skills and awareness that enable them to progress to Junior School with confidence and enthusiasm.

Headmistress Welcome
At Ashville Pre-Prep School we believe that creating positive childhood memories is just as important as building solid foundations for future development.
The educational experience should be stimulating and challenging but above all, in these vital early years, it must be happy and secure.
