School Life

The Junior School occupies its own premises within the spacious College campus with vehicular access from Green Lane.  Within the two storey building, there are ten dedicated classrooms, a specialist Music room, ICT suite and library.  There is also a large multi-purpose hall which is used for assemblies, choir and orchestra performances and activities like Brownies and karate.  In addition, we are able to share the outstanding College facilities for sport, music and catering and have important performances in the Soothill Hall, our Senior School assembly hall which is named after a former Headmaster of the College, Alfred Soothill.

Children can be dropped off at school from 8:15am and we begin our day with registration at 8:30 a.m. Our 8 period day finishes at 4pm, with additional optional activities running at lunchtimes and after school.  These normally finish at 5:15pm.

The children bring in a healthy snack for morning break at 11am.  Lunch is taken in the main College dining room, where our pupils are able to choose between a wide range of hot meals and salads. Parents new to the Junior School are invited to come into school at an early stage and share a meal with their children.

An after-school care service is available for children that cannot be collected at 4pm.  This is available daily in the Junior School until 6pm.

A school uniform list is provided in the welcome pack.

The college runs a bus service which brings children to Ashville from a wide catchment area. (link to bus service)

Years 3 – 6 are a time of great change for your children.  You will see them develop very quickly, both academically and socially.

Ashville Junior School fosters a special community, instilling values and standards which are often overlooked in the twenty-first century.  With awareness of each other and society in general, children grow up with confidence within a Christian framework; this is all part of being a Methodist school.
