Testimonials
The Pre-Prep School
"In year one we do
lovely displays and lovely
drawings. I enjoy painting
and I am good at maths
and science."
"Our teachers tell us how to hold our pencils properly and how to write our letters. We learn how to join up in Year One. We are very good by Year Two."
The Junior School
“I love this school because of the opportunities to get involved
in school clubs.”
Eleanor Gibbs - Year 5
“When you’ve joined the school,
it’s as if you’ve joined a new family
- you never feel left out.”
Alice Pickard - Year 6
“This is a tremendous school - active, loving,
caring and truly amazing!”
Tom Seed - Year 6
The Senior School
“Ashville is a good all-round school.
The work is constantly challenging.
I found making friends when I first arrived
here a simple task as everyone is friendly
and extremely welcoming.”
Judy Visser, Year 11
“Over the years, Ashville has offered me so
much: sport, friends, education… most
importantly it offered me a basis from
which I feel I can achieve anything, if I put
my mind to it.”
Edward Clothier, Year 9
“Ashville is a beautiful school with fantastic
surroundings. It has a great community and
is very welcoming. There are many different
opportunities for different types of people.”
Christie Rowan-Smith, Year 7
The Sixth Form
"Ashville’s Sixth Form is a great place to study.
The modern Sixth Form Centre offers relaxation,
a space to have fun and also doubles up as a study
area. There is a fantastic sense of community and
whenever problems arise there are always plenty of
people, both within the student body and the staff,
to offer their support. The Sixth Form is small
enough to know every face but large enough to
ensure diversity. We are given more freedom and
independence to help prepare us for our future."
Ruth Darbyshire,
Sixth Form
"Joining Sixth Form, you move into a whole new
level of Ashville life, and experience new educational
and social opportunities.”
Catherine Boyle, Sixth Form
“The best thing about Sixth Form is its size.
It’s small enough to know everyone by name
but big enough to have a wide variety of
characters.”
Matt Flanagan, Sixth Form
Boarding
‘What makes boarding so special? It teaches tolerance of others, and a fair degree of independence. I have learnt how to cook, iron and manage money but in such an environment that when things go wrong, which they invariably do, the house staff are always there to help us sort out problems and keep us on the right track!
I have boarded at Ashville for 8 years, and have learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I know that I will take away many great memories and that I have made many friends.
Matthew Wickham, Senior Prefect and Head of Briggs House 1997-2004
